Okay, so I’m borrowing Tim’s unofficial title for Wednesday night’s message, but it probably got your attention. Anyway, I’m pretty sure you hear some pretty foul language from students at school. The trouble is, once it gets into your head, how do you keep it from coming out of your mouth? I’d like to know how you deal with this issue. (You might consider the things Tim taught on).
1 Timothy 4:12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

I struggle with this very thing a lot, but my problem is it doesn’t always come out of my mouth. However, even when I think it, it is still a problem. All of the years of hearing it have finally come back to hurt me. Some ways that I deal with this is telling someone which is very hard to admit your shortcomings, and then every time I slip up I try to pray to God that he would fill me with his spirit and forgive me. Another thing I do is start singing either out loud or in my head a Christian song; a song that has really helped me with everything is I will boast. Also removing yourself from the source whether it be the tv or a person helps, but that is a hard thing to do. Finally, something that I encourage everybody to do especially if you are in public school is to join a Christian club, that way you are among people with common beliefs and brothers and sisters that will love you and love God.
I know this is all hard but as the verse says God calls us to be examples in speech as well as other things, and you are never to young to start.
I never really thought about it like that, YUCK.
Sometimes you guys talk about stuff that doesn’t really apply to my because I’m Home schooled. . .(hint hint) LOL. but seriously you don’t only hear bad words at school.
Yeah, you’re right. Of course, I suspect that a lot of parents home school in order to protect their kids from many of the negative influences that are all over our schools, but foul language is so pervasive, you will hear it many other places. But remember, it’s not just profanity that’s a problem, but any language that cuts others and doesn’t build them up. Watch out for sarcasm too.
Yeah I really try to stay away from people who say bad words, but it’s kind of hard. and it’s no fun learning new bad words. YUCK.
We live in a fallen world and face many situations that will challenge or even threaten our beliefs and values. The concern is how to live in the world, but not be of the world. The world is a place of great diversity that is filled with people who desire to belong or to be identified as belonging to a group. This is why people in general and teens in specific, dress a certain way, act a certain way, or in this case talk a certain way.
As a Christian we can fall into a trap of seeing the world as Christians and those who are not like me. Our God given call is to see the people who are not like us, as people who need to become like Jesus.
We cannot gain our identity from our dress, language, or school. We need to drop the labels and see people as God does, as children of the King and not someone to be looked down on because they are not like us. If only people who were like Jesus could become a Christian, none of us would qualify. Praise God he does not see our differences and labels us only as His beloved children.
Hey guys did you guys like, Totally have fun last night? It was awesome even though our flag isn’t finished yet
I learned two verses, when do I say them?
Hey Shannon, You can say your verses to any adult leader this Sunday. I won’t be at Wildfire as I will be on duty with the Army this weekend. Great work. See you next Wednesday at Fam-Jam. Ted
Hey thanks Ted.
Hey thanks.
oops, never mind

My FAV verse is 1 Timothy 4:12
Hey guys I’m the only one bloging, we need some new bloggers, I don’t want to blog by myself
Like Mickey P said, it is helpful to be involved in Christian Clubs at school and to think of helpful songs. Another thing that has helped me, is memorizing different types of scripture. AWANA was a great help to me but I have found some powerful scripture on my own. I have found it VERY helpful to have something to think about when I’m going through hard times.
i would try to stay away from people who say bad words but if you already heard a word then i would talk to my parents about the word and ask them to pray for me. And i would ask the person who said the word to try not to say it around me.
Im agree with ladyh20polo. It IS helpful to memorize scripture and be involved with Christian clubs at school. Its also helpful to surround yourself with good friends who encourage you in your walk with God.
